Protest Cable Call 2011

Welcome to the PROTEST CABLE CALL 2011. This international wakeboard event took place on the 13th and 14th of August 2011 at the Down Under cableway, Nieuwegein. As a part of the WWA Wake Park World Series, the bestest of the best wakeboarders in the world showed off to impress the judges. You were invited to come hang out with your friends, check out the contest, have a bite and a drink, improve your dance moves at the party, win some goodies and get your board groceries at the shopping street. But unfortunately, the event is over. See you at the Protest Cable Call 2012!

Next Cable Call: August 25th and 26th 2012

Wakeboarders, grab your calendars (if you guys have any): on the 25th and 26th of August 2012 the Protest Cable Call is alive and kicking at Down Under, Nieuwegein. No calendar? No worries, we'll probably remind you about this in the upcoming months anyway.

photo recap

We just uploaded a real nice photo recap of the weekend to our photo-gallery. Check it out over here.

DJ FRISS ON THE WHEELS OF STEEL

DJ FRISS was on the wheels of steel last weekend, we asked if he could show us a bit of his turntable-skills. And he could.

Happy Birthday Jeroen

The main man behind the scenes is Jeroen Beersmans. You might remember the interview we had with him. It's his birthday today. Congratulations!

Winning run Frederic von Osten

Freddy von Osten won the Protest Cable Call 2011, both Obstacles Only and Pro Men division. Take a look at his winning Pro Men run.

Party pics

The Cable Call party was banging! We've made a ton of photos that night and had to delete all the pictures that wouldn't make your parents proud. You can take a look at our gallery for a small selection of the best partypics, check out the Facebook page if you want to see all the pictures.

From now on it'll be all English again

Now that's a weird name for a post, isn't it? The Dutch part of the Protest Cable Call website was in English for a while, now we've switched it back. Click here if you like to read Dutch.

Clint Liddy on the mic

We had a short conversation with Clint Liddy, one of the two speakers at the Protest Cable Call.

Clint, what do you think of the past two days?
It was very well organised. Protest did an outstanding job putting an event like this together. The level of the riders was crazy, the conditions were good, there was a great crowd, working with Lorenzo which is always fun... it was really good! Too bad the sun only showed up at the end of the weekend, haha.

See you next year?
For sure! I'm already looking forward to it.

More words with Mike McComb

We spoke again with Mike McComb, head judge at the WWA. This time we spoke some more about the Cable Call.

So Mike, again, what do you think of the event?
The event was really good. I like how well organised the whole event was. The music, the party, it all contributes to the right atmosphere. It's professional, yet creates a good atmosphere that fits the wakeboard lifestyle.

You've been doing this work for eighteen years and counting. What developments do you see in the wakeboard scene?
We used to have no obstacles, haha! That's a development for sure. The skill level is is also growing and growing, wakeboarding is a young sport and you see it progressing every year. Tricks get more technical all the time, just like other sports like snowboarding or freestyle motorcross. You'll get the picture. We're now heading to Amsterdam with a lot of boarders to have a great time, so see you later!
